Pereira tipped to beat Adesanya in rematch
UFC heavyweight fighter Jon Jones believes Alex Pereira will win his title rematch against Nigerian-born Israel Adesanya on April 9.
Pereira stunned the world last year when he won the middleweight title via technical knockout over long-time rival Adesanya. The fight was a highly entertaining clash between two of the best kickboxers in combat sports.
The Brazilian's persistence and heavy hands eventually paid off as he snatched the victory from 'The Last Stylebender' in the fifth round.
Pereira now has a 3-0 unofficial head-to-head lead over Israel Adesanya, having previously defeated the Nigerian-New Zealander twice in kickboxing.
Jones told MMA Junkie that he doesn't expect a different outcome the second time around because he believes Adesanya has "number" on him.
"I believe Pereira will win again. Some athletes only have the numbers of other athletes. He works hard, and I support him. "I believe he'll do it again," Jones predicted.
The rematch between Pereira and Israel Adesanya will take place at UFC 287 at the Miami-Dade Arena in Miami, Florida. The stacked card also includes an equally exciting co-main event, which pits welterweight Jorge Masvidal against Gilbert Burns.
