Osimhen’s scoring instinct impresses Bagni

Salvatore Bagni, a former Italian striker, praised Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen for his outstanding performance in Napoli’s 1-0 win over Roma on Sunday.

The Nigerian striker returned to the Napoli squad two weeks ago in their 4-2 victory over Ajax, where he also scored despite only playing 45 minutes.

His late strike against Roma secured the victory for the Naples team.

In the build-up to the goal, the Nigeria international showed pace and physical strength to beat Chris Smalling before firing past Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

Bagni was impressed by Osimhen’s performance and ranks the Nigerian striker ahead of other Napoli strikers.

Bagni told Napoli Magazine, “Osimhen has improved for me in managing the 90 minutes.”

“Victor is more than just depth and speed. Osimhen can only suffer as a result of his goal against Roma.

“When Victor steals Smalling’s time and neither Raspadori nor Simeone can do it, that shot is all instinct for me.”

Napoli are on a roll, sitting atop the Serie A table with 29 points from 11 games and having not lost a game in the 2022/23 season.

Osimhen, who has four goals in seven appearances for Raspadori, has piqued the interest of English clubs and will look to continue his form.
