It’s another significant triumph for Temilade Openiyi, better known as “Tems,” who makes her first ever entry as a lead artiste on the world’s greatest music chart- Billboard Hot 100, with her smash tune “Free Mind” debuting at No. #90.

The catchy vibe “Free Mind” is one of the melodious & sonorous hit singles off Tems’ wonderful EP-“For Broken Ears” and it is the fourth time she would feature on the Billboard Charts after “Essence(remix.)” ft. Wizkid & Justin Beiber which peaked at No.9, Drake’s “Fountains” which peaked at No.26 in September 2016. as well as “Wait for You” featuring Future and Drake, which debuted at the top of the charts (at No.1.). Tems is the only African musician with four Billboard Hot 100 entries, along with Wizkid. (Drake’s One Dance peaked at #1, Beyonce’s Brown Skin Girl peaked at #76, Essence peaked at #9, and Chris Brown peaked at #76.)

Tems has a total of ten entries on the newly established Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, including ‘Essence,’ ‘Free Mind,’ ‘Higher, Found,’ ‘Damages,’ ‘Replay,’ ‘The Key,’ ‘Ice T, Crazy Things, and ‘Interference.’

Things are going crazy for “Daughter of Grace,” Tems.

The incredible diva has had a wonderful year, with outstanding and award-winning feats/achievements to her credit, and her music has received acclaim from all around the globe. Under her full name Temilade Openiyi, she was reportedly listed as a composer on Beyonce’s forthcoming 2022 album ‘Renaissance’ for track 10 ‘Move.’
Tems also sung a rendition of Bob Marley’s No, Woman, No Cry with a Kendrick Lamar sample of Alright on the soundtrack of Marvel Studios’ newest production, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Similarly, during this year’s BET Awards, Tems became the first female African musician to receive the BET Best International Act award. The incredible vocalist was nominated in three categories and won two of them. She was defeated by US rapper Latto in the category of ‘Best New Artiste.’
She did, however, go on to accomplish another historic accomplishment with Afrobeats Superstar Ibrahim Ayodeji Balogun “Wizkid” and American pop singer Justin Beiber. The BET Best Collaboration Award went to the blazing collaboration for the remix of Wizkid’s worldwide hit/Billboard Top 10 charting track, “Essence,” as both Afrobeats superstars awarded Africa her first major category at the BET Awards. Grace’s daughter also received the Raymond Weil International Award. – “Best International Act” at the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Organization’s o2 Silver Clef Awards.

“Thank you, thank you BET, thank you everyone,” I want to give, I mean this award is for truly Wiz, Africa, and I just want to say that wonderful things are going out of Africa and the light is shining on everyone there, and I just want to.

This one is for Africa and Nigeria. Thank you very much.
