Osimhen turns down N50 billion offer from Al-Hilal
Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has turned down a substantial €60 million (equivalent to N50 billion) per season salary proposition from the Saudi club, Al-Hilal.
Reports from France and England indicate that Napoli had already rejected a substantial €140 million offer from Al-Hilal for Osimhen. Furthermore, the player declined a generous weekly compensation package of €1 million.
Both L’Equipe and Sky Sports UK confirm that this exceptional offer was presented by the Saudi Arabian club on Monday.
While some players have chosen to transition to the Saudi Pro League during their prime years, such as Karim Benzema, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and Marcelo Brozovic, Osimhen currently has no plans to make a similar move.
While Napoli is in talks for a contract extension with the Nigerian striker, it's crucial to acknowledge that the rejection of the €140 million offer would have remained regardless of its source, even if it had originated from a prominent European club.
Napoli's President, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has established a valuation exceeding €150 million.
Currently, in negotiations, a potential agreement is under consideration, offering €7 million per season along with supplementary bonuses at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Napoli aspires for Osimhen to extend his contract, a move buoyed by his remarkable performance of 26 goals in Serie A during the previous season.
Osimhen has been associated with Manchester United and Chelsea during the summer transfer period. However, his price has proven to be beyond the reach of both teams.
Ligue 1 champions PSG maintain an interest, although it seems improbable that they will be able to match the offer presented by Al Hilal.
