Osimhen sues Turkish journalist for defamation
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has taken legal action against the Turkish journalist who accused him of assaulting him at an African restaurant two weeks ago. The hearing is expected to begin today. The on-loan Napoli player had been enjoying a new lease on life in the Turkish Super Lig, leading Galatarsary's charge in the Turkish top flight and the UEFA Europa League with goals and assists before becoming embroiled in a controversy with a journalist last week.
Tolga Bozduman, a Turkish journalist, recently accused Osimhen of assaulting him when he attempted to photograph the Super Eagles star following Galatasaray's 3-3 draw with Dynamo Kyiv two weeks ago.
The striker has denied the allegations.
"I did not hit the journalists; they are lying." Why are you flashing your face? You need to ask permission for an interview. I told them they needed to delete my photos. "If I wanted to hit them, I would have," he said in a video obtained by Pesindeyiz Galatasaray.
In a new development, radio host Buchi Laba has revealed that Osimhen is suing the journalist for defamation, with the hearing set to begin on Monday.
According to the Wazobia OAP, Osimhen stated, "If I hit him, he will receive justice; if he lies, he will face the wrath of the law."
Osimhen has been in excellent form since joining Galatasaray last summer. The Super Eagles star has 16 goals and five assists in 21 appearances for the Turkish powerhouse.
