Injury rules Dortmund’s Adeyemi out for three weeks
Karim Adeyemi, the in-form forward for Borussia Dortmund, will be out for three weeks with a thigh injury, the club announced on Monday.
Adeyemi suffered the injury while assisting Donyell Malen's goal in Dortmund's 4-1 win over Hertha Berlin on Sunday, and had to be helped off the field in tears.
"Karim Adeyemi tore a muscle fiber against Hertha Berlin on Sunday," the club tweeted on Monday. "He won't be available for three weeks. Get better soon."
Adeyemi, who also scored against Hertha, has been in excellent form for Dortmund, who are tied for first place in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich and Union Berlin.
In his last three games, Adeyemi has three goals and one assist.
The summer signing from Red Bull Salzburg is expected to miss games against Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig, and Schalke.
Adeyemi will also miss the return leg of Dortmund's Champions League match against Chelsea in London if he is out for three weeks.
Dortmund leads the series 1-0 after the first leg, in which Adeyemi scored the only goal.
