Chelsea have reached an agreement to pay a British record fee of £115 million for Caicedo

According to reports on Monday, Chelsea has reportedly secured a British record transfer fee of £115 million ($146 million, 133 million euros) for Moises Caicedo, the midfielder from Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 21-year-old Ecuadorian international had also attracted interest from fellow Premier League contender Liverpool, who had reportedly agreed on Friday to a record fee of £110 million with Brighton.

However, during the weekend, it became evident that Caicedo's preference leaned towards a transfer to Chelsea, and as per the reports, he is set to join the club based in west London on an eight-year contract.

After securing a 1-1 draw against Liverpool in their Premier League opener on Sunday, Chelsea is optimistic about having Caicedo ready for their upcoming match against West Ham United next weekend.

He might find himself in Mauricio Pochettino's lineup alongside Enzo Fernandez, who set a then-British record of £107 million when he moved from Benfica earlier this year.

Notably, Caicedo was omitted from Brighton's squad for their season-opening 4-1 victory against Luton Town at home on Saturday.
