Chelsea and Roma Engage in Discussions Regarding Lukaku Loan Agreement
Allegedly, Chelsea and Roma are in the process of negotiating an arrangement whereby the Belgian striker, Romelu Lukaku, would move to the Italian team on a season-long loan.
Sources indicate that executives from Roma have journeyed to London to engage in discussions with Chelsea's co-owner, Todd Boehly. The aim is to finalize a loan agreement for Lukaku, with a reported sum of €5 million involved.
Roma is currently seeking a striker due to the unfortunate anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury suffered by forward Tammy Abraham during Roma's 2-1 triumph over Spezia in June.
Initially, the Blues solely pursued a permanent arrangement for the 30-year-old. However, they have shifted their stance and are now open to a loan deal, aiming to finalize Romelu Lukaku's situation prior to the conclusion of the European transfer window on September 1.
In parallel news, AS Roma has officially secured the services of Serdar Azmoun, a forward from Bayer Leverkusen, on a season-long loan. The deal also includes the option to purchase for €12 million.
The move will lead to Lukaku reuniting with Jose Mourinho, his former mentor during their shared time at both Chelsea and Manchester United.
