AIU Appeals Amusan's Doping Violation Clearance to CAS
AIU Initiates Appeal After Tobi Amusan's Doping Violation Clearance, Despite Recent Championship Win.
Following three missed whereabouts control tests within a 12-month period, Amusan faced anti-doping regulation charges in July, resulting in a provisional ban from all athletic events by the AIU.
A month later, an Independent Disciplinary Tribunal cleared Amusan of all charges. However, the AIU decided to appeal the tribunal's decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the international body for sports dispute resolution. The AIU made this announcement on Monday via their official X (formerly Twitter) account:
"The AIU filed an appeal last Friday (15 September 2023) with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the Disciplinary Tribunal’s decision, dated 17 August 2023, that Tobi Amusan did not commit an anti-doping rule violation for Whereabouts Failures.
The AIU will make no further comment on the matter until the conclusion of the appeal."
