AFCON Qualifier Update: Victor Osimhen Joins Super Eagles Camp, Boosting Total Players to 22
Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, has joined the Super Eagles camp in preparation for the upcoming 2023 AFCON qualifier against Sierra Leone. The confirmation of Osimhen's arrival was announced through the official Super Eagles Twitter handle.
Following Osimhen's arrival on Tuesday, the number of players in camp has reached 22, with only Bright Osayi from Turkey yet to join the team.
Under the guidance of coach Jose Peseiro and his coaching staff, the team conducted their inaugural training session on Monday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
Sitting comfortably at the summit of Group A, the Super Eagles lead with nine points from four qualification matches. Guinea Bissau's Wild Dogs closely trail behind with seven points, while the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone hold the third position on the table with five points. Meanwhile, Sao Tome & Principe finds themselves at the bottom with a mere one point.
To secure their spot in the upcoming AFCON tournament hosted by Cote d'Ivoire, the Super Eagles simply need to avoid defeat during their Sunday match at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia.
