PDP in Imo State accuses 7 officials of joining APC to evade N1.4 billion probe

According to the Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the seven members of the State Working Committee who recently resigned did so out of fear of being indicted.

Following their departure from the PDP on Sunday, the former executive members made a switch to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The individuals involved are Martin Ejiogu (Deputy Chairman), Chibuisi Obido (Vice Chairman), Ray Emeana (Secretary), Collins Opurozor (Publicity Secretary), Greg Nwadike (Youth Leader), Maria Mbakwe (Woman Leader), and Josiah Eze (Treasurer).

In response, the Financial Secretary, Bede Ejimmadu, revealed that a report had implicated them in the alleged mismanagement of N1.4 billion allocated for the 2023 presidential campaign.

Ejimmadu, alongside other party officials, addressed the media at the PDP secretariat in Owerri, the capital of Imo State. He stated, "They are simply trying to evade being held accountable, but that will not protect them. The report will be completed soon and made public."

He explained that the campaign funds remained unaccounted for, emphasizing that his office had not received the money.

The official highlighted that those who departed believed they were superior to the leadership, taking over his position and mishandling party funds.

Ejimmadu stated that their departure was not a cause for concern as they had the right to do so. He assured that the PDP would identify capable individuals to fill their positions.
