Okorocha and Araraume Throw Their Support Behind Anyanwu for Imo Gubernatorial Election
Reportedly, former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, and Senator Ifeanyi Araraume have thrown their support behind Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Charles Ugwu, the PDP Chairman, made this announcement on Tuesday during the inauguration of the party's governorship campaign council in Owerri, the state capital. Ugwu revealed that Okorocha endorsed Anyanwu through his Rescue Mission Group, while Araraume endorsed the PDP candidate through his Destiny Organisation.
He further disclosed that the campaign council would be led by Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, as the Director-General, with Prince Marshal Okoroaforanyanwu serving as the Secretary.
Ugwu urged the council members to work diligently towards securing victory for the party in the upcoming election.
Anyanwu, addressing the gathering, stated his commitment to addressing the issues of killings and insecurity in the state, improving the healthcare system, and restoring the rights and dignity of workers and pensioners. He also expressed his intention to revive tourism and rejuvenate local government operations.
Anyanwu encouraged the council to perform its duties without fear and to remain undaunted by any individuals or groups.
He said: “I will lead, and I fear nobody. I want to stop the bloodletting and suffering in the land. Do not be afraid, I know where I’m coming from.
“I am your messenger, and I will lead you right. My name is Samuel, God has spoken, and I have heard.”
