Ex-PDP Senator Utazi Defects, Cites Reasons for Departure

Former Enugu-North Senator, Chukwuka Utazi, has made public his decision to part ways with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman in Nkpologu Ward of the Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, Chief Robert Ezeagu, Utazi cited the party's deviation from its initial ideals as the reason for his departure. He expressed the need to align with a new party that better reflects his aspirations. Utazi, however, did not disclose the identity of the new party he intends to join. In the resignation letter, he mentioned, “It is with reservation that I resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party which I had the privilege of being a foundation member at its inception in 1998." Utazi acknowledged the party's evolution away from the ideals that initially drew him to it, leading to his decision to seek a political home that aligns more closely with his goals.
