INEC declares Ogun Speaker polling unit election inconclusive

The election of the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, to represent Ifo Constituency 1 at the polling unit has been declared inconclusive.

According to the returning officer of the election, Prof. Olusegun Onabanjo, Oluomo, an All Progressives Congress candidate, received 7,379 votes, while his closest rival, Ogundele Okikiola of the Peoples Democratic Party, received 6411 votes, and Wemimo Owolabi of the African Democratic Congress received 3207 votes.


"Due to over-voting observed in unit 04 of ward one, the election is hereby declared inconclusive," said the returning officer.

The affected polling unit belongs to Sikirulah Ogundele, the state chairman of the PDP, whose son, Okikiola, is also the PDP candidate for the constituency.
