The Nigerian federal government has partnered with Wema Bank to establish Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) digital hubs in seven states. Vice President Kashim Shettima confirmed this in a statement on Sunday, expressing that the hubs will equip one million youths with essential digital skills.

Following a meeting between the Vice President and representatives from Wema Bank, an agreement was reached to implement the initiative. The digital and skill innovation hubs, named FGN/ALAT Digital and Skills iNnovation Hub, will first open in Lagos and Borno states, with subsequent hubs in Katsina, Cross River, Anambra, Oyo, and Kano.

Operated in partnership with Wema Bank, the program's strategic goals include empowering young entrepreneurs by offering tailored financial products, training, and support to establish sustainable businesses contributing to Nigeria's economic growth. Furthermore, the initiative aims to support tech-savvy youths with a passion for digital innovations, providing them with financial solutions, training, and access to strategic partnerships. It also seeks to empower young employees, particularly those deployed through the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), by integrating them into Nigeria's workforce.

Through this project, one million youths will benefit from software engineering, product design, and other digital training, while 500,000 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will receive mentorship on business development.
