Senator Hadi Sirika, Minister of Aviation, assured the National Assembly’s joint aviation committees on Thursday that the second Abuja International Airport Runway would be completed before the current regime leaves office.
Sirika promised the N92 billion runway would be ready by the end of 2023 during an oversight visit to the airport by the joint committees of the Senate and House of Representatives led by Senator Abiodun Olujimi and Honourable Nnolim Nnaji.
The Minister, who led members of the National Assembly’s two chambers’ committees on a tour of the ongoing projects at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, revealed that the contractor for the second runway, Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company, had been fully mobilized.
In response to Nnaji’s request for assurance that the runway would be completed on time, CCECC project manager Yang Yantao stated that with adequate funding, the CCECC would complete the runway and all components in six months.
