Nigeria Faces Challenges Sustaining Naira with Monthly Expenditure of $1.5 Billion, Says Ben Murray-
Ben Murray-Bruce, the former Senator from Bayelsa State and a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasized that Nigeria must avoid returning to the costly practice of defending the Naira with a monthly expenditure of $1.5 billion. Sharing his views on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, he criticized government agencies and political leaders for choosing foreign-made cars over locally-produced ones for official purposes, labeling it as a significant betrayal. Murray-Bruce also urged for a modification of the Public Procurement Act 2007 to enforce the compulsory purchase of locally-manufactured cars by government entities. In his message, he stressed the importance of supporting Nigerian products and encouraged citizens, especially elected officials, to prioritize locally-made goods for a better future.
