Two businessmen excrete 193 cocaine pellets in NDLEA detention

After three days in observational custody, two businessmen who were detained by the National substance Law Enforcement Agency at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja for ingesting cocaine excreted a combined total of 193 pellets of the substance.

Onoh Ebere, 49, and Christian Ifeanyi, 47, two human traffickers, were apprehended at the Abuja airport on May 10 after arriving from Addis Ababa through Addis Abeba on Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 951.

The anti-drug agency's spokesman, Femi Babafemi, stated this in a statement on Sunday and said that while both suspects had businesses in Nigeria, drug trafficking has been their primary source of income.

They both traveled to Uganda, passed the border into Ethiopia, and then picked up the consignments before returning to Abuja with Lagos as their final destination, according to Babafemi.

Christian Ifeanyi ejected 93 pellets that were buried in his stomach and weighed a total of 1.986 kilograms after spending days in the excretion room, according to Babafemi. Ebere Onoh expelled a total of 100 pellets that weighed 2.137 kilograms.

The NDLEA spokesman also reported that the agency's agents raided two well-known drug dens, Zaro bunk on Bama Road, Sabon Gari, and the Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium, all of which were located in the Kano city. A total of 160 suspects were detained with various amounts of illegal drugs at these locations.

Similar to this, two suspects, Abubakar Sallau, 55, and Nazifi Abdullahi, 25, were detained on May 13 along the Kano-Maiduguri highway with 5,000 pills of tramadol 200mg, while Adamu Nagati, 30, and Ali Nasiru, 35, were found to be in possession of 65,200 tablets of tramadol and exol-5.

Operatives in Abuja detained 25 individuals during separate searches in Tora Bora, Gwarinpa village, Third Avenue in Gwarinpa, Karamo, Garki market, Sabon Gari Bwari, and New Kuchigoro IDP camp, all located within the FCT.

Babafemi also disclosed that NDLEA agents once again foiled an attempt to smuggle 24kg of cannabis indica into Lagos by seizing the contraband on May 11 during a joint 100% examination of a container bearing the identification number MSMU 7412069 at the Prime Connection Bonded terminal off the Oshodi-Apapa expressway.

"Two clearing agents linked to the container, Chief G.O. Njokwu and Mr. Christopher Obialor, have been arrested in collaboration with men of the Nigerian Customs Service," he continued.
