Tinubu's Meeting with American Business Leaders in New York Set for Today
Today, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to meet with American business leaders and CEOs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in New York. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss emerging investment opportunities across various sectors in Nigeria. President Tinubu's participation in the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), his first appearance at this event, is expected to enhance Nigeria's global visibility, garner goodwill, and promote closer collaborations with world leaders and development partners.
In addition, today at 11 PM Nigerian time, President Tinubu will address the 78th UNGA. His speech will touch on crucial topics such as addressing climate change, combating illicit financial flows, and repatriating assets to Nigeria to strengthen international cooperation. He will also emphasize Nigeria's commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and contributing to international peace and security, among other matters.
The High-Level segment of the 78th UNGA, including the General Debate, begins today, September 19, 2023. During the General Debate, Heads of State will deliver their addresses, and this year's session is presided over by Mr. Dennis Francis of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, as announced by the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, Francisca Omayuli.
