Three die in fresh US shooting

Three people were killed and four others were injured Saturday at a luxury home near Beverly Hills during what US police described as a gathering at a short-term rental property.

Overnight, emergency personnel rushed to the swanky address in Los Angeles' Benedict Canyon neighborhood, where they discovered three people dead in a vehicle parked outside.
Four more people were being treated in hospitals on Saturday, two of them critically.

The incident occurred in an area nestled between Beverly Hills and Bel Air, where multi-million dollar homes with lush landscaping enjoy stunning views of the Los Angeles skyline. It came on the heels of two mass shootings in California that claimed 18 lives.

The attack occurred at a "short term rental home," according to detectives investigating the case, according to The Los Angeles Times.

Homes near the shooting scene — which were not involved — were listed on AirBnB for up to $10,000 per weekend.

The location of the shooting was not listed on the website.

According to police, there was some sort of gathering at the location.

"We called it a gathering until we could interview some of the people who were here to determine exactly what kind of gathering it was," said Bruce Borihanh of the Los Angeles Police Department.

"Investigators are also going door to door looking for additional surveillance video or any evidence that can help us figure out what happened here and why these victims were shot," said one investigator.
