The Rivers Port Manager outlines plans to prioritize four mandates for the NPA

The newly appointed Manager of the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA), Rivers Port, Mrs. Kenechi Okezie, has emphasized that her administration will prioritize four key areas to enhance the country's economy. Speaking during an official takeover ceremony in Port Harcourt, she outlined the mandates to focus on: improved staff welfare, excellent customer service delivery, trade facilitation, and revenue generation.

Mrs. Okezie stressed the importance of ensuring staff satisfaction and efficiency for smoother operations. She committed to delivering quality service to both external and internal customers, collaborating with government agencies, promoting trade, and driving revenue.

Emphasizing the significance of revenue generation, she highlighted the role of NPA as a gateway to the international economy, expressing the need to collect generated revenue and address outstanding debts. Mrs. Okezie assured that her administration, with divine assistance, would strive to optimize the Rivers Port's functionality in line with the NPA's mission and vision.

She sought the support and cooperation of the staff, promising an open-door policy and dedicated efforts toward achieving positive outcomes.

The outgoing Port Manager, Mr. Michael Adamu, expressed satisfaction with the achievements during his tenure, such as improving the work environment, securing operational vehicles, and implementing measures to control revenue leakage. He emphasized the importance of prompt responses to stakeholders' requirements and attention to issues, aligning with government directives on ease of doing business.

Adamu urged his successor to refine the mechanisms implemented during his tenure into a working document for continued success. He also highlighted the significance of the NPA, especially the Rivers Port, serving as a hub for cargo trans-shipment, emphasizing the need for optimal performance and reduced delays for demurrage. Adamu credited government support for enhancing navigational channels' safety and security, leading to increased patronage and a significant reduction in security concerns.

He urged NPA workers to support the new manager in her endeavors.
