FG revokes housing allocations for 1,357 beneficiaries

The Federal Government has canceled the provisional allocation of houses under the National Housing Programme for 1,357 individuals across 33 states due to their inability to make full payment within the required timeframe.

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development announced the cancellation in an official communication on Tuesday, stating that the beneficiaries did not comply with the 90-day payment deadline, along with an additional eight-week grace period.

The ministry’s communication emphasized that this action adhered to the conditions specified in the Provisional Offer of Allocation Letter provided to the affected individuals.

The canceled allocations include various types of housing, such as one- and two-bedroom bungalows and three-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, located in 33 states. The list of states impacted includes Delta, Cross River, Edo, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Ebonyi, Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, Osun, Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe, Bauchi, Borno, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Niger, Kwara, Kogi, Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Kano.

Dr. Shuaib Muhammad Belgore, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, explained that only those who did not fulfill the payment criteria within the stipulated time frame were impacted by the cancellation.

Nevertheless, the Ministry reassured that beneficiaries who finalize their payments by February 28, 2025, remain entitled to receive their Letters of Allocation and can immediately occupy their homes.

To promote transparency, the Ministry has made the comprehensive list of revoked allocations available, detailing names, housing types, locations, and the affected parties, on its official website at [https://fmhud.gov.ng](https://fmhud.gov.ng).

Additionally, the list will be published in print in Daily Trust, The Nation, and Leadership newspapers during the first week of April 2025.

Individuals impacted by the cancellation have been encouraged to visit the Ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja, or reach out to the Director of Public Buildings and Housing Development for further information and guidance on the next steps.

The government reiterated its dedication to ensuring equitable access to affordable housing while upholding compliance with allocation requirements to improve the effectiveness of the National Housing Programme.
