Report: El-Rufai Decides Not to Pursue Ministerial Position

Reportedly, Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has purportedly rescinded his desire to assume a ministerial position within President Bola Tinubu's administration.

Not only has El-Rufai withdrawn from the potential ministerial role, but he has also reportedly endorsed Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, who previously held commissioner roles in three distinct ministries – Local Government, Education, and Environment in Kaduna State – as his suggested replacement.

The report emerged after the Senate's decision to withhold confirmation for El-Rufai, along with two other nominees, Stella Okotete from Delta State, and Sani A Danladi from Taraba State.

Recalling that during the tenure of Senator Godswill Akpabio as President, the Senate granted confirmation to 45 out of 48 nominees presented by Tinubu.

The Senate's legislative branch, the Red Chamber, attributed the non-confirmation of El-Rufai, Okotete, and Danladi to security assessments.

However, a recent report from Premium Times, citing insider sources within the Presidency, indicated that the former governor, a strong advocate of the President, has declined the ministerial role in the administration.

Reportedly, El-Rufai conveyed to Tinubu his commitment to continue contributing to national progress as a private individual. He purportedly expressed his intention to concentrate on his doctoral studies at a university in The Netherlands and assured the President that Sani would be an invaluable asset to the government, describing him as "highly useful and resourceful."
