Police Responds as Primary School Pupils Set School Ablaze in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended two primary school pupils, aged six and nine, for reportedly setting their school in the Isheri-Olofin area of Ifo Local Government Area ablaze. Omolola Odutola, the command's spokesperson, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Sunday. According to Odutola, the minors gained unauthorized access to the school premises and proceeded to ignite books left by the teachers, causing damage to the school's property. The Anti-Crime and Detectives Unit took the two pupils into custody after a community chief reported the incident. The police plan to invite the parents for questioning to understand the circumstances surrounding their children's actions. The value of the damaged books is currently unknown. Odutola further disclosed that the police have initiated inquiries to contact the parents, considering the seriousness of the children's involvement in the crime. The police will update the public on any other individuals who may have instigated the youngsters in due course.
