Otti: Abia State Reducing Governance Costs, Ending Frivolities
Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has disclosed the implementation of measures aimed at significantly reducing the cost of governance in his administration. During his monthly media interactive session, Otti emphasized that cutting unnecessary expenditures has allowed the government to save funds, meet financial obligations such as salary and pension payments, and mobilize contractors for ongoing developmental projects. He highlighted the dedication to financial reengineering, ensuring professional management of state resources for optimal outcomes. Otti reassured the people of Abia State that their money is being safeguarded by his administration. In a related development, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji approved a N136.26 million car loan scheme benefiting 368 civil servants in the state. The loan amounts, ranging from N80,000 to N1.5 million, will be disbursed based on grade levels. The governor also injected N200 million to recapitalize the loan scheme, emphasizing his commitment to workers' welfare. The disbursement breakdown includes amounts for various grade levels, and Oyebode, the Commissioner for Finance, noted that outstanding deductions from salaries to cooperative societies and others were also settled.
