No plans to buy TikTok – Elon Musk

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has stated that he is not interested in acquiring TikTok.

During the WELT Economic Summit on January 28, he confirmed that he has not bid for the platform and does not intend to do so.

"I have not made a bid for TikTok," Elon stated clearly in a video call. "I don't know what I'd do if I had TikTok. I literally do not know."

The Chinese-owned app, which has approximately 170 million monthly users in the United States, faced a possible ban on January 20 due to national security concerns.

However, President Donald Trump granted ByteDance a 75-day extension to find a non-Chinese buyer.

The extension was required by a bill signed by former President Joe Biden in April.

Elon Musk stated that he prefers to start businesses from scratch rather than acquire existing ones.

He explained that his decision to purchase X stemmed from his long-standing commitment to free speech protection.
