Nigeria’s space capabilities set to achieve global recognition – NASRDA

The National Space Research and Development Agency has announced an ambitious goal to raise Nigeria's profile in the global space sector.

It also reaffirmed the agency's commitment to positioning Nigeria as a major player in the growing global space economy, emphasizing the importance of developing the country's space capabilities on a global scale.

This strategic initiative aims to promote collaboration and innovation in the space industry, thereby contributing to Nigeria's development and competitiveness in the international arena.

According to The PUNCH, Dr Felix Ale, NASRDA's Director of Media and Corporate Communications, made the announcement in a statement on Friday.

During recent engagements at the 79th United Nations General Assembly and the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture - Global Alliance Business Association international conference in Michigan, United States, the Agency's Director-General, Matthew Adepoju, emphasized the Agency's commitment to improving Nigeria's space capabilities.

He emphasized the agency's commitment to establishing Nigeria as a key player in the global space economy, reaffirming the country's desire to gain international recognition.

Adepoju outlined a forward-thinking agenda, emphasizing the importance of Nigeria's space program as a pioneer in research, exploration, and technological innovation.

He stated that the program is critical to advancing the nation's capabilities and contributing to global advances in space technology.

"Our goal is to ensure that Nigeria's space capabilities are recognised on the world stage," he told me.

He emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships, stating, "We must foster collaborations with global space agencies to enhance our satellite capabilities and technological infrastructure."

The NASRDA director stated that the agency is focusing on improving satellite capabilities, expanding international collaborations, and using space science for national development.

He emphasized that NASRDA is going to great lengths to achieve excellence, ensuring that it has the resources and recognition it needs to succeed.

"The relationships we build today will pave the way for tomorrow's advancements in space science," he said, emphasizing the significance of the high-level connections he made during his recent international appearances.

He also emphasized the importance of collaboration and teamwork within the organization.
