Leah Sharibu Separates from Her Initial ISWAP Spouse and Forms a New Marital Bond

Leah Sharibu, the Christian girl who was abducted by members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), has reportedly entered into a new union with another terrorist commander, following her separation from her first 'husband' to whom she was forcibly married.

As a reminder, ISWAP had kidnapped Leah along with 100 of her schoolmates from Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, on February 19, 2018.

After her alleged divorce from her initial spouse, Abdulrahman, Leah entered into a new marital relationship with Ali Abdallah, an ISWAP commander based in the Lake Chad region.

According to one of the security sources cited by Daily Trust, Leah's first marriage was to Abdulrahman, during which they had two sons, both named after two deceased Boko Haram commanders.

Details regarding the divorce and subsequent remarriage remain unclear. It was also revealed that Leah had been trained to provide medical assistance to injured Boko Haram fighters and women during her captivity. She now leads the ISWAP medical team in the northern part of the Lake Chad area.

Another source reported that Leah, her new spouse, and other militants were recently observed in the Dogon Chukwun kangarwa region. Her husband is identified as an ISWAP commander, but they are facing opposition from a Boko Haram commander loyal to Shekau, known as Malam Bakura.

Furthermore, it was noted that a significant group of ISWAP fighters has begun relocating from the area through the Guzamala forest. They were sighted along the route from Cross to Mosquito camp, Garin-giwa (where Governor Zulum's convoy was attacked), Munguno, and Gajiram, carrying a cache of dangerous weapons.
