Lagos govt reopens Chrisland school after parents’ appeal

A High Court in Makurdi, Benue State, has ordered an interim injunction barring Dr Iyorchia Ayu from posing as the Peoples Democratic Party's National Chairman.

The presiding judge, Justice W.I. Kpochi, issued the interim decision on Monday in the action No. MHC/85/2023 filed by Terhide Utaan against Ayu and the PDP.

The matter was postponed until April 17 for further proceedings.

The application was supported by a 15-paragraph affidavit, to which three exhibits were annexed as exhibits A1, A2, and B, which were the applicant's membership card, receipts for payment of dues, and a vote of no confidence passed in the 1st defendant by the Igyorov Council Ward of the 2nd defendant in Gboko Local Government, Benue State.

"Upon hearing Mr. M. T. Assoh of Learned Counsel ably move the application, and upon a dispassionate consideration of the facts placed before me in the pool of affidavit evidence, and again, upon the consideration of the issues distilled in the written address by M. T. Assoh of Learned Counsel, it is my candid view that this is a proper case to grant the interim injunction as craved," the court statement said.

"As a result, this application is hereby granted in terms of the reliefs outlined in the motion papers as previously reproduced." It's extremely well-organized."

According to nigerianwatch, Ayu was suspended by the party's ward executives in Igyorov Ward of Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State on Sunday by the ward secretary, Vangeryina Dooyum, on behalf of Kashi Philip, the ward chairman, for alleged anti-party activities.

The beleaguered chairman, on the other hand, argued that the PDP constitution specifically prohibits any organ of the party or executive committee at the ward, state, or national level from taking any disciplinary action against any member of the National Executive Committee.

The restrained chairman went on to say that the alleged suspension statement was merely for show, drama, and propaganda, and that it was a futile exercise based on utter "ignorance and desperation."
