Kwara State Implements Three-Day Workweek for Employees in Response to Subsidy Removal

Kwara State Government Implements Three-Day Workweek in Response to Soaring Transport Fares

In response to the significant increase in transportation costs, the Kwara State Government has issued a directive reducing the workweek from five days to three days for all employees in the state. The announcement was made in a statement by Murtala Atoyebi, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazak.

Mrs. Susan Oluwole, the State Head of Service, has instructed all Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to promptly devise a schedule indicating the alternating workdays for their respective employees.

Oluwole Explains Temporary Measure to Alleviate Burden on Kwara State Workers

Oluwole clarified that the government has implemented this temporary measure to alleviate the challenges faced by public workers in the state. It is part of a broader strategy to ease the hardship resulting from the fuel subsidy removal, as announced by the Federal Government.

However, she cautioned the workers against taking advantage of the governor's generosity. Emphasizing the importance of strict adherence, she stated that her office would intensify regular monitoring of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure compliance.
