Kwara Fire Service Retrieves Deceased Child from Well
The Kwara State Fire Service has reported the recovery of the body of a seven-year-old boy, identified as Abdul-Haayi, from a residential well in the Akerebiata area of Ilorin, located within the Ilorin East Local Government Area of the state.
Tragically, the young boy fell into the well on Monday evening when he slipped, resulting in his unfortunate demise before the state fire service personnel could retrieve his lifeless body.
Subsequently, the deceased boy's remains were handed over to a certain Mr. Yusuff, presumed to be a family member.
According to a statement issued by Hassan Adekunle, the Head of Media and Publicity for the Kwara State Fire Service, "On Monday, November 6, 2023, a young boy, approximately seven years old, named Abdul-Haayi, residing at Yaa-Lateef House on Tinu Street in the Akerebiata area of Ilorin, Ilorin East Local Government Area, Kwara State, fell into a domestic well and was tragically recovered deceased."
The tragic incident transpired around 17:28 hours (5:28 PM), and the brigade received the distress call via a telephone conversation with a resident, Mr. Idowu, from the vicinity.
"Nevertheless, the firefighters successfully retrieved the deceased's body from the well and subsequently delivered it to Mr. Yussuf, a family member of the young boy.
As per the account, the boy had gone to collect water from the well, and during this endeavor, one of his legs unexpectedly slipped, causing him to fall into the well."
