Kogi Locals Fill the Streets in Celebration of Natasha's Tribunal Victory
On Tuesday, residents of Kogi Central enthusiastically took to the streets to commemorate the triumph of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senatorial candidate from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), in the election tribunal.
Just last Wednesday, the Election Petition Tribunal, which convened in Kogi, declared Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the PDP as the rightful winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial election that occurred in February. The Tribunal's chairman, Justice K. A. Orjiako, delivered a unanimous verdict from the three-member panel, revealing that Abubakar Ohere, the All Progressive Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Kogi Central in the National Assembly poll held on February 25, had his results inflated in nine polling units within the Ajaokuta Local Government Area (LGA). Furthermore, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had reduced Natasha's results in those areas and omitted the results of three additional polling units intended for Natasha in the same LGA. Consequently, the tribunal nullified Senator Ohere's victory.
In a show of solidarity with the PDP leader, supporters and members took to the streets to celebrate her victory. Below, you can view some photos from the joyous celebration.
