Kidnapping 'Prophet' Arrested After Abducting Bride-to-Be and Hiding Her for Seven Months

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a self-proclaimed Prophet, Pastor Sunday, affiliated with a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in the Agbado area of Ogun State, for allegedly kidnapping a 21-year-old lady, Aliu Blessing, just days before her wedding. The arrest came after the pastor had allegedly deceived the victim by prophesying that she would die on her wedding day unless she had sexual intercourse with him.

The victim initially sought spiritual help from the pastor for her ailing sister. According to reports, the pastor claimed that any man other than him who tried to have a relationship with Blessing would die. Subsequently, on February 2, 2023, the pastor allegedly abducted Blessing to an unknown location.

After over seven months, Blessing returned home on November 5, 2023, and narrated her ordeal to her family. The victim's uncle reported the incident to the police, stating that the pastor took Blessing to his family house in Ilaro and a hotel, where he allegedly had multiple and unconsented sexual intercourse with her.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest of the pastor, noting that he confessed to the allegations during interrogation. The victim, showing signs of a mental disorder, has been taken to the hospital. The pastor is set to be prosecuted after the completion of the investigation.
