Kaduna authorities apprehend 503 individuals suspected of criminal activities
On Thursday, the Kaduna State Command presented a total of 503 suspects involved in various crimes, including banditry, armed cattle rustling, culpable homicide, rail track vandalism, and other related offenses. The parade took place at the state police command premises.
One of the individuals paraded was Ismail Mohammed from Maijere Village in Saminaka, Lere local government area of the state. Ismail kidnapped his brother, Kabiru Mohammed, and tragically ended his life after receiving a ransom of N120,000 from their family.
According to DSP Muhammed Jalige, the spokesperson of the command, the suspects were apprehended during the period from May to June 2023.
He elaborated on the recovery made from the suspects, which included four AK47 rifles, three revolver pistols, two pump action guns, a substantial quantity of two thousand eight hundred (2,800) railway slippers, and nine stolen vehicles of various makes and models.
I am pleased to announce that over the past few weeks, the Command has achieved remarkable success in its vital mission of safeguarding the lives and properties of law-abiding citizens in Kaduna State. We have apprehended a total of five hundred and three (503) suspects involved in a wide range of crimes, including armed banditry, armed robbery, snatch-and-grab incidents targeting mobile phones and handbags, cattle rustling, culpable homicide, rape, burglary, theft, rail track vandalism, and other related offenses.
The police spokesperson further stated that significant progress was made during the investigation, resulting in several recoveries. These recoveries include four (4) AK47 rifles, three (3) revolver pistols, two (2) pump-action guns, a substantial quantity of two thousand eight hundred (2,800) railway slippers, nine (9) motor vehicles of various makes, two (2) tricycles, two hundred and nine (209) rounds of AK47 live ammunition, one hundred and twenty-nine (129) rustled cattle, eight (8) sheep, and two bags (2) of dry leaves.
The spokesperson also highlighted that the prevailing peace and tranquility being experienced in Kaduna State is evidence of the Command's unwavering commitment to protect the lives and properties of the state's residents. They reassured the community that the Kaduna Police Command remains resolute in preventing criminal elements from carrying out their malicious activities throughout the state.
