The International Association Of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) is urging Nigerians and fellow Africans to remain dedicated to achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This global peace advocacy organization is also calling on citizens to prioritize peace and stability across the African continent.
In an official statement announcing the commencement of its Support Road Walk in Abuja, IAWPA stated, "Our Association continues to be a leading advocate for the UN's initiatives and can confidently affirm that the UN has performed exceptionally well. We are proud of their multifaceted activities through their various agencies in Nigeria. Hence, the African Directorate, under the capable leadership of the Director of African Affairs, Amb John Metchie, has directed all country chapters to engage in this awareness walk. The objective is to create awareness and ensure that their contributions to peace and stability within the African continent are acknowledged."
The group has instructed all its members and peace-loving, patriotic Nigerians to participate in the walk, which commenced on October 24, 2023.
The event in Abuja, scheduled for 10 am on Tuesday, will feature a special appearance by His Eminence, Ambassador Dr. John Metchie, the Association's African Director, who also serves as the Deputy Commander General of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS).
According to the event itinerary, the walk, chaired by Prof Chidi Ehiriodo, will start at the Unity Fountain and conclude at the UN House in the Central Business District (CBD) of the Nigerian capital city.
Other participants in the walk include Prophetess Happiness Michael Ebuba (Abuja coordinator), Amb. Nkpe John Moses, and Amb. Kabiru Jega, among others.
IAWPA holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2019 and is recognized as a global peace advocacy group.
