Hamisu, the Missing Journalist, Discovered Dead in Zamfara
In a statement released by Ibrahim Gada, the Secretary of the Zamfara state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), it was revealed that Hamisu Danjibga, a missing journalist from Voice of Nigeria (VON), has been discovered dead in Zamfara State. Danjibga had gone missing earlier in the week, and his lifeless body was found three days later in a soakaway behind his residence, as reported by NUJ.
Expressing deep concern about the circumstances surrounding Danjibga's tragic demise, the union has urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice.
The statement from NUJ read: 'The Zamfara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists regrets to announce the death of Hamisu Danjibga, a reporter with Voice of Nigeria (VON), whose body was discovered in a soakaway behind his house three days after he went missing. The discovery was made after Islamiya Children noticed an unpleasant odor in the evening of Wednesday, September 20, 2023, and informed their teachers. Upon opening the soakaway, Danjibga's identity was confirmed by his family and some neighbors. He has since been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic traditions. The Union extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, Voice of Nigeria, and the entire Zamfara state. The Council, while expressing deep concern over the nature of Danjibga’s demise, appeals to security agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators of this dastardly act to justice.
