Furious Crowd Attacks Yenagoa Warehouse in Protest Against Fuel Subsidy Removal
A group of individuals from Bayelsa State reportedly entered a warehouse on Isaac Boro Expressway in Yenagoa, the capital of the state. This incident, which took place on Sunday, involved the warehouse where relief supplies were stored for distribution.
SaharaReporters indicated that these individuals were driven by frustration caused by the economic challenges resulting from the removal of subsidies on petrol, commonly referred to as Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
Nonetheless, it remains uncertain whether the items taken from the warehouse were food supplies that were intended to be given to various states, as promised by the administration of President Bola Tinubu. The purpose of these supplies was to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy withdrawal.
Speculation has arisen that the relief materials that were taken might have been originally designated for those who were affected by flooding in the state.
As of the time of reporting, the state government had not issued any statements regarding the incident.
Further details will be provided shortly…
