Five Lives Lost in Tragic Road Accident in Abuja

A tragic road accident occurred in Mpape, a nearby settlement to the Maitama District of Abuja, claiming the lives of at least five people. The accident, which happened on Thursday, was caused by brake failure in a truck carrying sand. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Chorrie Mutaa, confirmed the incident, stating that the rescue team of the corps had retrieved five dead bodies and ten injured individuals. The accident involved thirteen vehicles, including a truck and a motorcycle.

In a separate incident, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, revealed that criminals make abandoned buildings in Abuja their hideouts after committing certain crimes. Wike vowed to pull down all abandoned buildings in Abuja, addressing the Senate Committee on Appropriations. He emphasized that these buildings serve as hideouts for criminals, and bringing them down would contribute to improving the security situation in the city.
