Dana Airplane Skids Off Runway at Lagos Airport

Dana Airline plane veered off the runway at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

The aircraft involved, a McDonnell Douglas MD-83 with registration number 5N-BKI, was carrying 83 passengers.

Dana Airline's spokesperson, Mr. Kingsley Ezenwa, stated that all 83 passengers and crew members disembarked safely without any injuries.

Ezenwa, in a statement, said, “Dana Air regrets to inform the public about a runway incursion involving one of our aircraft, registration number 5N-BKI, which was flying from Abuja to Lagos on 23/04/24.”

"We are relieved to report that all 83 passengers and crew onboard safely disembarked without injuries, thanks to the crew's utmost professionalism in handling the situation.

"We have also informed the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) about the incident. The aircraft involved has been grounded by our maintenance team for further investigation.

"We would like to thank the airport authorities and our crew for their quick response in ensuring the safe disembarkation of all passengers. Our sincere apologies and appreciation go to the passengers on the affected flight for their patience and understanding."
