DSS frees Fani-Kayode on bail

Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has been released by the Department of State Services.

The DSS summoned the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council's Director of Special Projects and New Media for questioning and grilled him for hours.

The APC chieftain had appeared at the DSS office in Abuja to answer questions about allegations he made about army generals plotting with presidential candidates to derail the 2023 elections.

"I've been released," he said, confirming his release. I'm on my way back home. I'm going to speak to the press about it. "Everything is under control," Fani-Kayode assured reporters.

Earlier today, DSS spokesman Peter Afunanya confirmed that Fani-Kayode had reported to the secret service's headquarters.

According to the DSS spokesperson, the former minister reported to the service at 9:00 a.m. in response to the invitation extended to him.

"Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has been with the DSS since 9 a.m. today, February 13, 2023, in response to the Service's invitation," Afunanya said.

The invitation came after the former minister claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had a secret meeting with some army generals.

However, the Defense Headquarters later denied the alleged meeting, pledging its commitment to democracy.
