Cross River NLC gets new chairman
The Nigeria Labour Congress's Cross River State Council has elected Comrade Gregory Ulayi as its new state chairman.
In a hotly contested election, Ulayi defeated his closest rival and outgoing chairman, Comrade Ben Ukpepi.
After collating the results, the Returning Officer of the Election, Comrade Benson Ukpah, declared Gregory Ulayi the winner.
"Out of 528 votes cast, Comrade Ben Ukpepi received 139 votes, while Gregory received 339 votes," Ukpah explained.
Following the election, Ulayi assured union members of an inclusive government.
"I shall operate an open door policy in which the input of union members will not be tampered with," he said.
