In Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, a barber finds himself in police custody following the death of a young woman during a reported sexual encounter on Monday.

The police, confirming the incident on Tuesday, announced the initiation of an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the lady's death.

Allegedly, the tragic event occurred during a romantic encounter between the lady and her boyfriend at a guest house in the Temidire community, Offa Garage area in Ilorin.

The middle-aged man, known for owning a barbing salon, had gone for leisure with his girlfriend at the said guest house. Unconfirmed reports from the community suggested that the man may have been under the influence of drugs, possibly in an attempt to impress his girlfriend, leading to an unfortunate turn of events.

According to a source quoted by Punch, the girl became fatigued during the intimate moment and subsequently lost consciousness, eventually passing away.

When the man noticed the distressing situation, he raised an alarm, attracting the attention of the guest house staff. The lady was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital, where her death was confirmed.

Following the incident report filed by the guest house owner at the Police 'A' Division in Ilorin, the middle-aged man was arrested.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, assured that a thorough investigation had been initiated to unravel the circumstances leading to the tragic event. Ajayi stated, “The incident is true. The state police command has arrested the man involved while full investigations have commenced to know what actually happened between the man and the deceased.”
