Authorities successfully rescued 16 victims of kidnapping in Kogi

On Monday, security forces conducted a rapid and effective rescue operation, saving 16 individuals who had been kidnapped in Kogi, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja. SP Williams Ovye-Aya, the spokesperson for the Kogi Police Command, characterized the rescue as "very swift and pragmatic".

He mentioned that among the rescued individuals, eleven were passengers from a Peace Mass Transit Bus, and five were reportedly abducted from a Sienna Bus on Sunday, February 25, along the Ette Enugu Ezike road. The abductees were taken into the bush.

Ovye-Aya, noting that no arrests had been made, pledged to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice. He stated that security operatives were actively searching the bush to capture the culprits and ensure they face legal consequences.

"We are tirelessly working to arrest and prosecute kidnappers, sending a clear message to deter others. As security operatives, we are dedicated to eradicating the menace of kidnapping and other criminal activities in Kogi and the entire country," he asserted.

He mentioned that Commissioner of Police Bethrand Onuoha expressed satisfaction with the rescue operation, commending the Joint security team for their efforts. Ovye-Aya quoted the CP as emphasizing the Command's unwavering commitment to sustaining the ongoing fight against criminal activities in Kogi.

Ovye-Aya appealed to the residents of the state to continue collaborating with the police and other security agencies to ensure the adequate security of lives and property in Kogi.
