ABU Collaborates with Company for Film Production
The Distance Learning Centre of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has entered into a collaboration with Dorayi Film and Distributing Company to promote its academic programs through film production and television series.
This partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed jointly by the Distance Learning Centre, Ahmadu Bello University, and Dorayi Film and Distributing Company during a brief ceremony held in Zaria on Tuesday.
The MoU outlines the commitment of both parties to enhance their mutual cooperation in the fields of film production, featuring in films, and sponsorship. According to the agreement, the Distance Learning Centre, renowned for its excellence in modern open-distance and e-learning, will sponsor the production of a film titled 'MISALI,' secure television broadcasting rights, and retain intellectual property rights.
Dorayi Film and Distributing Company, a television production company based in Kano, will handle all aspects of producing the television series, including scriptwriting, casting, production, editing, completion, marketing, and other associated responsibilities.
As per the terms outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding, the TV series production will span four months, commencing from November 13, 2023, and concluding on March 13, 2023.
Furthermore, the parties will collaborate to promote shared value in the realms of entertainment and advertising, and actively engage in organized events as part of their cooperative efforts.
During the ceremony, Prof. M.I. Sule, the Director of the Distance Learning Centre at the institution, signed the MoU on behalf of the Centre, emphasizing that the agreement would ensure the Center's protection and promotion.
Dr. Salim Magashi, Deputy Director of Administration at ABU Distance Learning Centre, provided an overview of the MoU, highlighting the comprehensive nature of the project, which is set to commence soon.
Malam Nazir Salihi, representing Dorayi Film and Distributing Company, signed the MoU alongside Malam Aminu Shehu, a staff member of the film production firm, who was also present.
Notable attendees from the Distance Learning Centre included Prof. Suleiman Aliyu Shika, Deputy Director of Learning Support Service and IT; Dr. Maryam Dewu, Deputy Director of Academics; Malam Hussaini Yahaya, Finance Officer; and Mrs. Aishat I. Baballe, Administrative Secretary.
