Social media abuzz as Rema pockets $3m at billionaire’s wedding

The news of Rema's record-breaking performance fee at Anant Ambani's wedding has caused a stir on social media, with many people touting music as a profitable career option.

The Nigerian Afrobeats sensation reportedly earned N4.5 billion for singing just one of his hit songs, 'Calm Down', at the high-profile event, leaving people in awe.

Rema sang during the wedding of Asia's wealthiest man, Mukesh Ambani's son, Anant Ambani, and Radhika Merchant, the daughter of pharmaceutical magnates Viren and Shaila Merchant.
The event took place on Friday at the Jio World Centre in Bandra Kurla Centre (BKC), Mumbai.

According to estimates, Canadian musician Justin Bieber was paid $10 million for his performance at the event.

Rihanna, a pop singer, also performed at the event for an unknown amount.

Rema's achievements have inspired aspiring musicians and music aficionados on social media platforms, which is fantastic.

The announcement has also spurred increased interest in the music industry, with many young people viewing Rema's success as encouragement to pursue their own professions.

@Solomon_King said on X, "Hold up, let's get this straight, Rema just got a staggering N4.5 billion ($3 million) for singing one song at some rich kid's wedding?!

"One song?" We're talking about a number that could fix Nigeria's economic difficulties; perhaps that's an exaggeration, but you get the picture.

"Rema just made more money than I'll see in my lifetime, and I'm still trying to pay my rent.

"I need to start singing."

@OlamideAngel stated, "I'm quitting my job to become a musician, or perhaps just a wedding singer."

"We are dying over here! Meanwhile, Rema is just over here having his best life, and we're not complaining. In fact, we're feeling inspired to improve our musical skills.

"On a more serious note, this accomplishment demonstrates Rema's hard work and talent. We are proud to see African artists making waves and receiving the respect they deserve."

@Perryblack, an X user, wrote, "Back then, y'all criticized Rema for sounding "Indian" when he broke out. He was paid $3 million to play a song at Anant Radhika's wedding in India.

"Trust your music and the process. Maybe I'll go with Portable's statement that music money is greater and better than football money.

"We assumed Rema was joking when he declared he was the future. He claimed to be the next Wizkid, but we are not taking him seriously. "Big up, boy."

@blacktribemusic commented, "Only Rema's song has helped him become one of Africa's most successful artists. Bigger than the top guys, una dey reason themselves.

"Rema is too large to be underestimated by Nigerians; he's only 22 and earning more money.

"Another day to remind y'all that music money is longer than football own."

On the contrary, @cassandra stated that the millionaire should have utilized the money to feed all of India's needy residents.

"That country suffers; why can't he give this money to the poor? Isn't India among the poorest countries in the world?

"I swear billionaires don't think about the poor, chaii!

"Just $1k is enough for like 1 million people and they will appreciate it and pray for you, it is more than all this show off," she told the crowd.

Also, @UcheMark stated, "They all belong to the same cult." Rema's relationship with India (voodoo) is clear from the start of his career.

"Also, his recent usage of demonic symbols and colors provides sufficient evidence. "Birds of a feather."

@chocolatechic stated: "I will never be poor."
