Fire incident at Aba power facility contained – Management

Geometric Power, an integrated power company, said it successfully contained a fire at its facility in Osisioma Industrial Layout, Aba, early Monday.

According to the company's statement, the affected building was previously used by the defunct South African firm Group 5 during construction and had been mostly unused for more than 12 years.

The statement read, "Though the cause of the fire has yet to be determined, it was contained by Geometric Power staff prior to the arrival of the Abia State Fire Service, which responded quickly to the emergency call."

"Geometric Power management commends its employees for their vigilance and gallant efforts in putting out the fire, as well as the Abia State Fire Service for its prompt response and professionalism.

"The management also appreciates members of the public for their concern and support."
