Mayor of Atlanta proclaims November 18th as 'Davido Day' in the realm of entertainment

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens has acknowledged the significant contributions of Nigerian-American singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, to the entertainment scene in the city. Following Davido's headline A.W.A.Y Festival at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, the Mayor and the Atlanta City Council officially designated November 18 as "Davido Day" in recognition of the artist's impact.

In a birthday message to Davido on November 21, 2023, the Mayor expressed gratitude for Davido's efforts as a global icon in the music industry and acknowledged his multifaceted roles as a singer, songwriter, producer, business leader, philanthropist, and community advocate. The Mayor highlighted Davido's remarkable career and his ongoing commitment to giving back to communities in the United States and across Africa.

In an official statement, the Atlanta City Council declared, "We, the members of the Atlanta City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Atlanta, hereby proclaim November 18, 2023, as Davido Day in the City of Atlanta."

Simultaneously, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners also extended honors to Davido, designating November 21 as "Davido Appreciation Day" in the City of Fulton County, Georgia. The Board recognized David for his significant contributions to the music and entertainment industry, making the proclamation in a formal statement.
