BET Awards: Burna Boy Makes History with Fourth Consecutive 'Best International Act' Win

Renowned Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, known as Burna Boy, emerged as the recipient of the prestigious "Best International Act" accolade at the 2023 BET Awards, which took place in Los Angeles, United States of America, on Sunday night.

Burna Boy, renowned for his hit track "Last Last," triumphed over esteemed contenders including French singer Aya Nakamura, British superstars Ella Mai, Stormzy, and Central Cee, as well as fellow Nigerian artist Ayra Starr, to secure the award.

With this latest triumph, Burna Boy has further solidified his remarkable record as the individual with the highest number of wins in the "Best International Act" category at the BET Awards, now having achieved this feat on four occasions.

Burna Boy secured the award for an impressive streak of three consecutive years, claiming the title in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

Since the inception of the "Best International Act" category at the BET Awards in 2018, it has been dominated by Nigerian artists, with Davido emerging as the inaugural winner.

In the previous year, rising Nigerian music sensation Tems triumphed as the recipient of the coveted "Best International Act" honor.

However, during the recent awards ceremony, Nigerian singer Asake fell short in the "Best New International" category, with Cameroonian star Libianca emerging as the victor.
