Two-day old baby dumped in Edo IDP camp

A infant, thought to be two days old, was abandoned on the grounds of the IDP camp in Uhogua, close to Benin, in the Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State.

The newborn was abandoned in the bushes outside the camp's gate at around 11 a.m. on Friday, according to the camp's owner, Pastor Solomon Folorunsho, who also noted that the infant was in desperate need of breastfeeding.

He claimed that the individual who abandoned the child wrote a note requesting for the child to be cared for.

We found the infant, who is only a day or two old, in the woods near the entrance to our camp, said Folorunsho.

The infant was abandoned with a note that begged for assistance in caring for him. Because I lack resources and don't want to murder him, I am unable to care for him. Additionally, he is yours, please.

The Ministry of Women's Affairs, the Police, and the Department of State Service had all been informed of the situation, according to the coordinator. Additionally, he urged the infant's mother to come forward and claimed that the child needed to be breastfed.

The mother of the kid is encouraged to come out and not be afraid if for no other reason than the fact that the infant requires breast milk, he continued. "We have reported the situation to the proper authorities.

"If she comes forward, we can raise money to rent a house for her, assist with food and other expenses because she said she was unable to care for the kid, which is why she took the action.

"However, if the mother wishes to remain unidentified, we are prepared to care for the child and raise him in this location like other kids.

Additionally, Folorunsho pleaded for well-meaning Nigerians to help the youngster by providing clothing, food, and other nutrition-related goods.
