Governor Mutfwang extends congratulations to the newly appointed leadership of NGE

Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, expresses his congratulations to the recently elected leadership of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).

 Governor Mutfwang, in a congratulatory message, commends the Guild for its maturity, professionalism, and tolerance demonstrated during the election held at the biennial convention in Owerri, Imo State. He also praises the peaceful conduct of the members throughout the process.

 He characterized the Guild as a pivotal entity and guardian that shape optimistic portrayals of government policies and events pertaining to Nigerian citizens and the country as a whole.

 Governor Mutfwang acknowledged the significance of the biennial convention in which the new leadership was elected, considering it a momentous milestone in the history of the journalism profession in Nigeria.

 Reflecting on the notable contributions made by the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) and the journalism profession towards the development and preservation of democracy in Nigeria, he fondly recalled their achievements. The governor urged them to uphold their code of conduct as a guiding principle, emphasizing the importance of their role in maintaining journalistic integrity.

 In addition to congratulating the newly elected leadership of the NGE, Governor Mutfwang appealed to other media industry unions, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN), to take inspiration from this positive development. He encouraged them to embrace the principles of internal democracy and foster a culture of fairness and transparency. By doing so, these unions can serve as beacons of light, setting a commendable example for the entire country.
